We do our very best to bring you the latest and most interesting films, those you may have missed or those you’d never thought to watch.
We brought you the “North of Watford” UK Premiere of I AM THE BLUES back in 2018 – but a WORLD PREMIERE is something else.
Exciting isn’t it!
Here’s some back ground:
Poly Styrene (Marianne Elliott) was the lead singer and songwriter of X-Ray Spex. The band were together initially only from 1976 to 1979.
Poly was immediately acknowledged as an original but also as someone who had to unfairly navigate intense scrutiny throughout her career, this exposure was to come at great personal cost.
A tiny teenager with braces on her teeth, this mixed-race woman from a working-class background was proclaimed by Billboard Magazine as ‘one of the least conventional front-persons in rock history’.
Poly’s fascinating story is brought to the big screen by her daughter Celeste, who sets out to explore her mother’s legacy and celebrate the life of a true pioneer. Even if her music isn’t your thing, this film will be a story about her life challenges after her 3 years in the spotlight…we think its going to be well worth a watch.
So, glam up for the premiere, get the red carpet out and let us know what you think of the film!
