While buying a nice bottle of wine, Hortense (40-something, midwife and charity volunteer) meets Jacques (50-something, grumpy cellarman). Eager to see him again, she attends a chaotic wine tasting in Jacques’ shop – meeting his best friend who tries to seduce her, and his new apprentice who has a rare gift for wine tasting and unfiltered honesty. As Hortense and Jacques grow closer and closer, their past begins to catch up to them.

Mark says:
Drinking wine in the town of Troyes, in the Champagne region, has a lot to recommend it. The relaxing rhythms of country life and eye catching medieval architecture provide an idyllic accompaniment to this classic tale of mid-life second chances. And there’s plenty of French wine, French jokes and je ne sais quoi.
