The Sisters Brothers

A tale of Bounty Hunters, the Gold Rush and the new ‘magic’ of Chemistry…

After looking at a lot of films, over a long period of time, we couldn’t find a decent new “Western” to screen at Film Club, so we chose something that looks like a western and sounds like a western…but isn’t a western!

There are definitely no cowboys, no cows, no sheriffs and no damsels in distress.
Adapted by French Auteur Jacques Audiard from the best selling novel by Canadian-born author Patrick deWit, it was inspired by a book on the California Gold Rush which deWitt found at a car boot sale.

Ultimately it’s a story about brotherhood, friendship and the insecurity of life in a violent place, and the film injects a new perspective into the genre, mostly through one stellar performance by John C. Reilly.”
